We Run This Race Together
Or Do We?
The Church!
Church-"assembly" or "called out one's"; the body of believers gathered to worship Jesus.
Sometimes there are others that just don't understand what the Church is. I know before I was saved I always thought it was a building in which you go to on Sunday to hear someone talk about Heaven and Hell, which it is a building but it isn't the true Church. Church is a " assembly " "the called out one's" "believers" called out to worship our Lord Jesus Christ." The Church is God's people. The Church is suppose to gather together and worship and pray and run this big race of life together. Do we run this race together?
I will try to explain the purpose of the Church and it's true ability to bring others to Christ and how the first Church guided and helped each other in all things and why the Church today seems so distant and sometimes seem to only focus on material things more than all the hurting souls in the world, even pushing away other believers when their in need. I will start in the book of Acts. Acts 2:42-47
Have you ever felt like a intruder when you walked inside a Church building? I have and I'm sure others have to, even today sometimes as I walk into Church I feel others just are to busy to be concerned about whats going on in my life or even to preoccupied to even shake my hand or give a smile. Today it seems that the Body has broken up into single groups of 5 or 6 individuals that just seem to focus on self. The Church is God's spiritual family, it is our responsibility to help one another in every possible way. I know how it feels to be pushed aside, it hurts really bad in your heart to know even God's people just don't seem to care. God's family works best when its members work together. We can see in Acts 2:42-47 how God's children worked together and helped each other and prayed and fellowshipped together daily. Today I can't even get a phone call to see how I am doing.
By no means am I putting down the Church, I'm just wondering, are we running this big race together? I know I need help running this big race, and help living this life from my sisters and brothers in Christ, after all the true definition of Church is "assembly" or "called out one's." Others can tell we are Christians by our love for each other and for non-believers who need Christ more than they realize.
Let's define two words, Gather and Body. Gather means to cause to come together, Convene. Also if we look at the word Convene we see its definition as to assemble, usually for a official or public purpose to meet formally. One meaning of the word Body of course is the human structure a organism of a human being or an animal. Also the meaning of the Church Body is the nave of a Church. Then, if we look at the word nave, it means the central part of a church.
Have you ever heard the song, if we are the Body? Some of the words go like this, if we are the Body, why aren't His arms reaching, why aren't His hands healing, if we are the Body, why is His love not showing them there is away? This is a question we all need to answer, why is His love not showing them their is away? Can we answer this, are we to busy, are we stuck on self, so many non-believers may think so, when I was younger I always thought Christians were stuck up. But now that I'm one I can see why I thought that, walking inside a church isn't going to get us saved, no it's the love we show when we show them, there is away.
Then we have believers who need us to show the love of GOD in our actions. Faith is action, and when our brothers and sisters in Christ are hurting we need to be there, so what if we think they are going to use what we give them in a wrong manner, God will take care of that, it's suppose to be in our hearts to love others and bring God glory. The lost need to know that Christ died for them to, that He forgives and loves them and that His way is the only way to eternal peace, and the gift of God is eternal life, Romans 6:23. If the lost will believe in Him they well receive eternal life 1 Timothy 1:16, of course they need to know they are sinners and repent and turn from their sin and eternal life is theirs. God does not want to see anyone perish, but come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. For believers God needs to be shown in the Body, the Church. So many Christians in the world today need other believers to show God's love to them. Another part in the song if we are the Body is "Jesus paid to much a high a price for us to pick and choose who should come, we are the Body of Christ." We are to love like Christ, not pick who is worthy, we are all not worthy, God loves us and meets us where we are. God remains the same, we change but His love is everlasting, He will remain faithful 2 Timothy 2:13.
Again, let's look at Acts 2:46-47. Can we be like this Body, they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Can we say the Lord is adding to our number daily. Let's remember,
"We Are The Body Of Christ."
