Job Summary:
The Facilities Services - Maintenance Team at Rollins College is seeking a service and team-oriented entry-level Carpenter to join their team on a temporary basis.
Anticipated Employment Dates: Immediate - April 30, 2026
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performing carpentry to include rough framing and drywall work along with some finish carpentry.
- Performing cement repairs to include stucco and other specialized textures.
- Assisting with special event set-up and take down
- Assisting the lead carpenter to manage shop safety and cleanliness
Minimum Qualifications & Education: - High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR) are required to drive College vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications: - Carpentry, welding, or related trade experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques, repair, and maintenance of structures.
- Ability to safely operate shop tools to include band saw, table saw, and other common handheld tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate complex oral and written instructions.
- Punctuality, plus the ability to adhere to schedules and work effectively under deadline pressure.
- Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, contracted vendors, and service providers and the public at all levels in a pleasant, courteous, and efficient manner.
Additional Position Information:
Anticipated Employment Dates: Immediate - April 30, 2026
Schedule: Full-time schedule Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 37.5 hours per week, for a total of or fewer than 1,000 hours per year. Requires flexible schedule, including some evening/weekend shifts and regular and emergency call-out overtime as needed.
Pay: Rollins offers a competitive hourly rate and there are no benefits associated with these positions.
Work Environment:
- Front-facing customer service role on-campus.
- Inside and outside working environment, including construction sites and intra-building locations.
- Work requires visual strain, as well as strenuous activity involving moderate lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, standing and walking.
- Requires use of safety equipment.
