But you don’t have to follow the traditional publishing route to make it happen, or to make a lot of money from your writing. Traditional publishing takes time and you must follow the publishing industry’s way of doing things. You need to submit a book proposal and shop it around until you find an interested publisher. And you need to develop a thick skin to withstand the barrage of rejection slips that inevitably arrive.
Your book might get picked up, or it might not. If it does, consider yourself among the lucky few rather than the disheartened many, although it could take a year or more before your book is available. Your book might sell well from bookstores, or you may soon see it banished from the shelves fast and forever, destined to become remainder bin inventory.
